Skin aging

Fine lines from aging can begin to appear in some people around age 25. Wrinkles typically become more pronounced from ages 40 to 55 and most obvious after 65.

Genetics, diet, and lifestyle habits such as smoking play a role in how your skin ages. Sun exposure and air pollution contribute as well.

In addition, as you grow older, a decrease in the amount of collagen and elastin can lead to skin that wrinkles and sags.

Types of wrinkles

There are two types of wrinkles: dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles occur when muscles move — such as during smiling, laughing or squinting. Examples include forehead lines and crow's feet next to the eyes.

Static wrinkles, on the other hand, don't result from movement but from a decrease in the skin's collagen and elasticity over time as well as from harm by the sun and pollution. These wrinkles appear when the skin grows drier, thinner, and loses volume.

Treatment with injectables — it’s like getting a liquid facelift

Fortunately, nonsurgical treatments are available that can help combat these signs of aging. Two examples are Botox and dermal fillers, injectable products that work in different ways to help restore a more youthful look to your face.

Botox

Botulinum toxin or Botox injections cause specifically targeted dynamic muscles to relax, which in turn makes wrinkles less noticeable. This effect starts to become apparent from one to three days after treatment with the full benefit appearing after about a week. Botox injections last anywhere from three to six months.

Fillers

Dermal fillers use a variety of substances to add volume, reduce wrinkles and creases, and plump up different parts of your face. It’s a popular treatment, with over 3 million people each year undergoing the procedure to improve their appearance. Depending on the product and where we inject it, fillers can last up to two years.

Combination treatment

Using both Botox and fillers together can improve the results even further. Because Botox relaxes muscle movements to smooth wrinkles and fillers help plump up facial volume for smoother, younger-looking skin they complement each other nicely for an added benefit versus using each alone.

You can get ultimate results by tackling both types of wrinkles with the two types of injectables. This combination treatment is highly effective and is safe when performed by medical professionals.
